MGSU held the International Scientific and Practical Symposium FCI 2023

International Scientific and Practical Symposium “The Future of the Construction industry: Challenges and Development Prospects” was held at MGSU on September 18-22, 2023. The Symposium aimed at providing the sustainable innovative development of the construction industry, preserving the continuity of scientific schools, forming a new level of training professional staff and strengthening scientific and business contacts.

Over 1,000 guests and participants from Russia and abroad attended the International Symposium. Numerous scientific sections, master classes, seminars and round tables were held during the FCI 2023. Besides, participants visited an exhibition of achievements of the construction industry.

The Symposium was attended by such dignitary as the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov, and the Minister of Construction and Housing of the Russian Federation Irek Faizullin. The distinguished guests took part in the meeting of the Board of Trustees of MGSU and spoke at the plenary session. At the plenary session of the International Symposium on September, 20, Irek Faizullin spoke about the integration of international standards, the development of information technology and the human resources potential of the industry. The Ministry of Construction and Housing of Russia actively cooperates with the scientific community, universities and regions; researchers of universities and branch scientific institutes in the field of civil engineering are in great demand today.

One of the most significant statements was made by the Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia announced the construction of the world-class campus on the basis of MGSU:

“Such enhancement is to contribute to the development of the construction industry and the implementation of ambitious plans to increase the volume of housing construction. Under the authority of the President, it was decided to build 25 new world-class educational campuses in Russia. To date, 17 projects have been approved, 8 more are under development. One of the projects supported by the President is the construction of a campus on the basis of MGSU.”

It is planned to build new facilities of about 130-140 thousand sq. m. for educational needs and a new sports complex to expand the historically good sports base of MGSU. A large number of places for students to live in will also be built. In addition, according to the plans, rental housing will be built on the territory of the university for both teachers and residents of Moscow.

Moreover, the Deputy Prime Minister read the welcoming speech of the President of the Russian Federation:

"It is important that today the construction industry demonstrates positive dynamics and record index, despite the difficult situation," the welcoming speech reads.

The grand opening of the Design School of MGSU took place in the Coworking Center of MGSU on September, 21. The event was held within the framework of the international scientific and practical symposium “The Future of the Construction industry: Challenges and Development Prospects”. State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing of Russia Yuriy Mutsenek, Head of the Mytishchi City District Administration Yulia Kupetskaya, Chairman of the Moscow Branch of the Union of Designers of Russia Maria Chernyak, Rector of MGSU Pavel Akimov were among the honored guests of the grand opening.

The premiere screening of the "Vocation" movie directed by Elena Dubrovskaya was the most striking, from an emotional point of view, event of the Symposium. The movie tells about the fate of children and their teacher of the new territories of Russia. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mikhailik and Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Olga Petrova.

It is noteworthy, that foreign guests took part in the international symposium. Delegations from Iran, Turkey, Iraq, Belarus, Israel, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and India took an active part in the Symposium program and presented their scientific reports.

The closing ceremony of the FCI 2023 took place on September, 22. MGSU Rector Pavel Akimov thanked the participants and guests for attending such large-scale event:

“I think that our scientific forum was successful and useful, we will try to make the Symposium a traditional event. This format was supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia and the Ministry of Construction and Housing of Russia, let's hope that such representativeness of the forum will continue at subsequent symposiums. We are glad to welcome guests at the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering and are always open to new forms of scientific cooperation.”
